An annual maintenance contract can be the difference between a quick fix and a long outage. The contract wording matters as much as the price.
A checklist
- A schedule of covered systems with locations and serial numbers
- Response and resolution targets by severity
- Included preventive visits and what each covers
- Remote monitoring and who receives alerts
- Spare parts policy and replacement lead times
- Vendor escalation and who owns the support ticket
- Exclusions, such as damage, third-party faults and out-of-scope changes
- Reporting, review meetings and renewal terms
Questions to ask a provider
Who will answer the call, in what hours, with what authority? Can they support equipment they did not install? What happens if a part is not available locally?
Ask for sample reports and references you can call. A confident provider will show you how they work.
